Omega 3 chewing candy

A carrier is often refer to the substrate used to bulk up a tablets or fill up a capsule, which can also serves to improve the selectivity, effectiveness or safety of a target substance. In order to deliver the lamb omega 3, a suitable carrier must be:

It should be

  • Able to stabilise and do not react the extracted lamb oil

  • Do not induce bacterial growth

  • Safe to consume, no long term and side effects

  • Industry available and cost effective

  • Protect the oil from moister and light

And ideally can also

  • bring additional nutritional value to the oil

  • Incorporate with other native products

  • Easy to manipulate i.e. into solid, aqueous and foam

  • make it fun and delicious to consume

After further research, eight substrate that commonly used in supplements are selected which are rice flour, magnesium stearate, lactose, glycerin, benzalkonium chloride, gelatine, vitamin D and vitamin C. While he lamb fat Omega 3 has all the benefits just like fish oil it is also very sensible to light, oxygen and moisture. To make a supplements the ability to be easily absorbed are very important and a pleasant flavour will be a bonus. Thus, the selection criteria are whether enhance absorption, additional value, Anti-oxidation ability,  Anti-Bacterial properties and flavour. The score range from-1 for opposite effect of those properties on lamb oil to +1 for positive effect and zero for no effect.

Another important consideration for implanting our solution in 2025 is the product also need to be attractive and pleasant to consume. To make it attractive to people especially to children as Omega 3 shows reduce effect on antisocial and aggressive behaviour problems in children, the product should be fun and testy. New Zealand kiwi fruit is well know for high level of vitamin C content (Hjalmarsdotti, 2016). Thus instead of a normal gelatine capsule it will be made into a delicious kiwi fruit chewing jelly. The aqueous fish oil will be deodorised and enclosed in centre of a kiwi fruit jelly as in the figure blow.

Figure 1. Approximate appearance of jelly candy  (gumlinkcc,2012).

To satisfy the eating experience, 100 mg of lamb oil will be injected in each chewing jelly instead of 1000 mg, so they can have ten of this delicious ‘kiwi fruit candy’ till reach the recommended Omega 3 level. Same procedure could also be used for vitamin D but as it commonly found in animal livers, it will limited the customer pools as many people do not eat offals and not as well recognised as New Zealand kiwi fruit. The approximate dimension of the candy will be maxim 2 cm in length and 1 cm wide oval shape soft just like any other but with our favourite kiwi fruit.
